WHAT DEFINES OFF BEAT DESIGN

New designs, styles, techniques for making jewellery , and sharing our knowledge and expertise with like minded people.

WHERE DO WE GET OUR IDEAS

Ideas are everywhere. Creative people from all walks of life, artists and artisans, thinkers and theorists, people who tinker with different materials  and styles – all with ideas and inspiration from someone or something else. Our need and desire to be creative is not restricted to jewellery. We browse blogs, books and magazines on fashion, style and interiors – art – sculpture – craft and jewellery.  We read books, articles and watch films about the world’s great designers. We learn from everyone.
“There is nothing new under the sun”. (Eccleiastes 1.9:)

OUR CHALLENGE IS TO GIVE OUR WORK THAT MAGICAL DIFFERENCE

We do lots of repairs. Old jewellery often has stones or materials no longer available. Solving repair problems leads to ideas and techniques we can use again. We are rewarded with happy customers and a new skill.

WHERE DO WE GET OUR PRODUCTS

We are regular visitors to the Tucson Bead and Gem Show. More than 5,500 international suppliers in 54 locations have been gathering in Tucson for more than 50 years to exhibit their products and designs. Beads and gemstones, findings and stringing materials from all over the world are displayed once a year in one location.  From the largest to smallest – many who don’t even have a website – are found at Tucson.
As great as the Tucson show is, it is only a fraction of what is available worldwide.  Our search of countries and companies with products that are new, interesting and different, never ends.

You are both truly inspirational people;  professional, talented and dedicated, willing to share your wealth of knowledge and experience, always encouraging and great company as well”

Sue

“The only thing that stops me from visiting  your store is the distance. I think you offer a wonderful product with the classes you hold and the expertise you pass on. Thank you.”

Penny

“Lesley and Wal are well known in the Brisbane community  for workshops. They taught me the basics of beading 10 years ago and I have now returned at a more advanced level. They are recognised for their unusual beads, their workshops and for their individual styles and designs. Their work is defined by high standards of professionalism and commitment, and by a desire to pass on their knowledge and experience, creating clever and beautiful jewellery with excellent workmanship and attention to detail.”
